Craft Fair
Well I didn't make another scarf, as mentioned in the last post, which is a shame because I sold the two scarves I had at the Gala yesterday. It went really well and I sold a lot of the pieces I had listed on Etsy, so the shop is looking a bit bare now. I sold a good mix of things as well: craft kits; scarves; bags and jewellery. I also had a few people interested in the workshops. The weather was good, suprisingly for the UK and I met lots of friendly people. All in all, a great way to spend a bank holiday, my little boy had great fun as well, especially on the bouncy castle. My little girl, who's not so little now, is having a little holiday with her grandparents. Here are some shots of the stall, as you can see from the bags, it started off a bit windy, at one point the stall nearly blew over!!
Recently, Maggie inquired about this piece,
I didn't mean to leave you dangling, I get fustrated with reveals that go on for ever (have I mentioned I'm not a very patient person). It was a piece of felt I made with a poncho in mind, but the drape was all wrong, so I attacked it with scissors, it is now being turned into two very little summer tops. It's not finished yet and to be honest I've sort of lost interest in the project, but I'll get back to it when school starts again and I'll show you the end result.

Yay! I have managed to finish off some of my felt jewellery. I was baby sitting for my brother last night, and he doesn't have a telly, so I took a big pile of craft stuff with me. Here's some of the pieces I was able to complete.
The piece above is a cross between a cuff and a bangle, I really like this one so I'm keeping it for myself. Tonight, another nuno scarf before Heroes!!

We're back after a weeks holiday in Scotland. Think we might have picked the worst week to go weather wise, but had a fantastic time. We even managed a day on the beach on the last day and I swam in the sea! O.K. so it was only two strokes, it was very, very cold.
I'm going to be really busy this week as I have a stall at the Spofforth Gala on Monday, (I even whipped up a felt picture at the dining room table this morning, whilst my kids had their breakfast). I'm hoping to generate some interest in my workshops so I need to make lots of felt bags, jewellery and scarves. Of course I've known this for a long time, but I always seem to work better under pressure. That is why I leave things to the last minute, it's nothing to do with lack of organisation, honest!
This little fella flew into the porch of our cottage and panicked a little, so I caught him in a towel and put him in the garden. He was a bit stunned so I got some great photos before he flew off. Not sure if it's a chiffchaff or a willow warbler.

I'm really supposed to be tidying the kitchen, but instead I've:
Anyway, here is the necklace. It's made from some pieces of handmade felt I had lying around (felt that was destined for other purposes, but didn't work out as planned). That's what I love about felting, nothing is ever wasted. I am also making use of my vast button collection. I visited every charity shop in Beverley whilst at my parents. Fortunately Papa was there to entertain the children while Mum and me scoured! I came away with an exciting stash of buttons!! I really do need a bigger button jar.
Oh well, guess I better tackle the kitchen before teatime.
- made a new necklace
- photographed the new necklace
- listed it on Etsy
- listed it on flickr
- and now I'm blogging about the new necklace

I have sore computer eyes, so I'm going to keep this one short and sweet. Here are some bits of felting I managed to get done on Sunday. We had glorious sunshine in the UK (unfortunately it only lasted a day), so I did some felting out in the garden, whilst the kids were having a wail of a time in the paddling pool.
And here are some necklaces I just listed on Etsy (hence sore eyes).
It's true, English people always comment on the weather, I have noticed this in blogland, it's always the UK blogs that squeeze the current weather situation into their posts, but maybe that's just because we're having a crap summer!!

Oops, nearly forgot to post. I was just getting comfy on the sofa, contemplating what crafts to start this evening. Think I'll get my yarn stash out, I've been making some crochet cuffs recently and I've got a bit hooked. Here's some of them, I spent this morning listing them on Etsy, boy that takes a long time!! I hate listing.
The last cuff was inspired by the sea, I took a lot of pictures whilst at Hornsea, and would like to work on a series of felt pictures with a sea theme. Just not sure when I'll get chance, I might have to shelve it until next month. At the moment I'm working on the contents for my new workshops: felt a bag; felt jewellery and felt scarves. Details of dates and venue are available here.

How could I forget! Maybe it was the busy day entertaining children after having a late night. We went to see Manchester United play Inter Milan at Old Trafford (husband is from Manchester), great match, but we lost. Anyway, the reason I wanted to post was to let you know that my website got a mention on the felting section of the craft gossip blog network. It's a great site, all about felting, it is fairly new but well worth a visit with links to other felting blogs and felting tutorials. Please take a look, www.felting.craftgossip.com
Well it looks like summer has finally arrived in England, lets hope it stays for a little while. I started the holidays with a week at my parents house (left the Husband at home decorating the hall). I had the very good fortune, to grow up here, on the East Coast of Yorkshire.
And although I was desperate to leave for the big city when I reached 18, (any city would have done at the time, but I ended up in Leeds) . I now appreciate what a fantastic place it was to spend a childhood.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn't too hot when we were there the other week, so the kids only got one day on the beach, and it wasn't exactly paddling temperatures. However, we did manage a picnic, sandcastles and some beach combing. My daughter had me on my knees, scouring the pebbles for sea glass. My Mum collects it and has a big jar by the back door, E has decided she wants to out do Grandma, but so far we only have 3 pieces!!
As I haven't posted for a while, I have a few things I want to share, but I'm not too keen on long posts, either writing, or reading, so I'm going to try and do a post a night to catch up. Coming up tomorrow, some felt work by Auntie.
